Java Editor is a straightforward application made in Java. It’s designed to help you edit Java code easily. Before we get into the details, let’s point out that this app hasn’t been updated in a while, so you might run into some compatibility issues on newer machines.

User-Friendly Setup

If you have Java installed on your computer, you’re all set! There’s no need for any extra setup. You can save the program files anywhere you want on your disk. Just click the executable file to launch Java Editor. Plus, if you want to take it with you, feel free to copy it to a USB drive and run it on any PC without changing anything in the Windows registry.

Simple Interface

The interface is super user-friendly and has just a few options in the menu bar and toolbar that remind many of us of Windows Notepad. You can write or paste your Java code right in the main window, compile and run it, and even see the output at the bottom of the screen.

Error Checking Made Easy

If there are errors in your Java code, there’s an extra pane that helps you spot them. You can undo your actions, use a basic search function for specific terms, or check everything from where your cursor is placed. Plus, creating an HTML file with your code or running an applet is just a click away!

Saving Your Work

Your projects can be saved as files too! This means you can easily pick up right where you left off later on. In terms of options available within the program, you can change where the Java SDK is located by default, customize font settings, turn off smart tabs, and auto-indent features, and even tweak the default HTML template code.

Performance Overview

During our tests, this tool didn’t freeze or crash at all! It kept CPU and RAM usage low so that your system runs smoothly while using it. One downside? Unfortunately, syntax highlighting isn’t supported here. But remember that since this application hasn’t seen updates for quite some time now.
