What is Iris Micro?

Iris Micro

Iris Micro is a handy command-line tool that’s like a lighter version of the Iris software for Windows. Its main goal? To help improve your eyesight and boost your productivity while you work on your computer. It does this by adjusting your screen's brightness and tint, making it easier on your eyes.

Easy to Use Anywhere

Since it's a console-based app, you can easily schedule it using the Windows Task Manager. Plus, there's no need to install anything! Just unpack the downloaded file and run Iris Micro right away. You can even keep it on a USB flash drive so you can use it on any PC without any hassle.

Batch Files for Quick Settings

When you download Iris Micro, you'll find three batch (.bat) files included. By double-clicking these files, you can set the app to either day mode (with a temperature of 5000K and brightness at 100) or night mode (with a temperature of 3900K and brightness at 80). If you want to go back to the default brightness settings, there’s an option for that too!

Custom Settings with Command Prompt

You can also customize settings directly through Command Prompt. The command looks like this: iris-micro.exe temperature brightness_percent. For example, if you enter iris-micro.exe 2000 50, it sets the temperature to 2000K and brightness to 50%. If you run the .exe without any commands, it defaults to a temperature of 3900K and brightness at 80%.

Add Lower Values with Registry File

If you're using monitors that don’t support values below 3900K or bright levels under 80%, there’s an extra file included! This .reg file allows lower values by making some changes in the registry. Just keep in mind that you might need to restart your computer for those changes to take effect.

No Compatibility Issues

We tested Iris Micro on Windows 10, and everything worked smoothly! It responded quickly to commands with minimal impact on performance.

A Great Tool for Eye Comfort

All in all, Iris Micro is a simple yet effective command-line tool for users who prefer working in console mode rather than dealing with fancy graphical interfaces. It’s great for preventing eye strain during those long hours at the computer. Oh, and according to its developer, it works well with all Linux distributions too!

If you're ready to give Iris Micro a try!
