What is iPi?

iPi

iPi is a nifty little app you can use to calculate the value of pi. It’s super simple! The app uses the formula 4(1-1/3+1/5-1/7...+1/(2n-1)-1/(2n+1)) and has some handy settings that are easy to figure out.

This program is packed into a single .exe file, so you can drop it in any folder on your computer or even throw it on a USB flash drive. This means you can run the app on any computer with no fuss and zero experience needed!

The best part? It doesn’t mess with your system registry, doesn’t need any extra DLLs to work, and won’t create files on your disk without asking first. Plus, it works on different platforms, and if you're using Mac OS X, there’s an edition for you too!

The interface is straightforward and designed simply. You can adjust how fast the calculations go by moving a slider around. You’ll also see how many calculations have been done and the current value of pi as it builds up.

You can pause or restart the calculator anytime. Want to know how long it's been running? No problem! You’ll see elapsed time, the last few calculations made, and the total number of calculations right there. If you want to save your progress or copy the pi value, that’s easy too—just select what you need! Keyboard shortcuts are available for all these commands.

In our tests, iPi didn’t hog system resources at all; it uses very little CPU and RAM while running its calculations. We didn't run into any issues like freezing or crashing—everything ran smoothly!
