Intag is a handy tool for archivists who manage large databases. If you've ever felt like you needed an extra filtering option, this software has got your back! While Windows has built-in support for tags, adding them isn’t always easy. That’s where the open-source community steps in with Intag, a super user-friendly tagging system that works right from your context menu.
The best part? Setting it up is a breeze! You won’t have to deal with annoying installation wizards. Just run the executable, and you’re good to go! To use Intag, all you need to do is select a folder and right-click it. A special context menu pops up, letting you drag around a window where you can add tags that describe what’s inside the folder.
Once you've tagged your folders, viewing those tags is simple. Just enable them in Windows Explorer’s sorting system! This makes life easier for photographers or anyone else who wants to group their files by themes like nature or flowers. It’s all about making things easier for yourself!
Intag also remembers each tag you add for future folders needing similar keywords. If you want to remove a tag, just click on it—no more fussing over typing things out in an input box!
A quick note: when you first set up Intag, make sure to place the executable in its own program folder. The context menu will look for it there at startup, so moving it around later can cause issues.
One thing to keep in mind is that while adding and removing tags is easy, there’s no way to delete them entirely yet. This could lead to having outdated tags cluttering up your menu over time.
You might notice a slight delay before the file explorer detects your new tags—about a minute or so—but don’t worry; the developer mentions this in the documentation!
If you're someone who loves staying organized and wants an extra layer of filtering for your folders, Intag's ease of use will let you assign tags quickly and easily. This way, finding and grouping your files becomes less of a hassle!
