Hash Verifier is a handy little tool made in Java. It can quickly calculate the SHA1, SHA256, SHA384, SHA512, MD2, and MD5 signatures of your files. The best part? It’s super easy to use, no matter what your tech skills are!
If you already have Java installed on your computer, you’re all set! This application comes in a single .jnlp file. You can just save it wherever you like on your hard drive or even on a USB stick. It runs smoothly on any PC with no extra hassle. Plus, it won’t clutter up your Windows registry or add any sneaky files without you knowing.
The main window of Hash Verifier looks clean and organized. You can easily import one or more files using the file browser, drag-and-drop feature, or by selecting a folder to check out its contents. Just a heads-up: when picking a folder, make sure to use the built-in tree view! Dropping a folder directly onto the app won’t do what you expect.
Your checksums are calculated automatically! Simply click an entry from the list and choose the type of signature from the dropdown menu. Need to copy a hash? Just one click does it!
This tool also has a cool feature that lets you compare hashes. You can paste another alphanumeric value and see if they match. If they do, that means both files are exactly the same!
Now for some minor downsides: currently, there’s no option to delete unwanted entries or clear everything at once if you want to start fresh. Also, you can’t view or copy all hashes together at once nor save them directly to a file.
In conclusion, Hash Verifier is an easy-to-use solution for checking and comparing file checksums.
