GullLocker is a handy tool that keeps your private files safe, even if you think no one else can access them. It’s a lightweight, open-source program that uses some solid algorithms like BlowFish and AES (Rijndael) to protect your data. Once you encrypt your files, they’re stored in an easy-to-access list.
The first step with GullLocker is to create a master password. You’ll need this password every time you want to open your file list. Keep in mind that you can only have one list at a time, but every file you encrypt can be added to it easily.
However, there’s a bit of a flaw here. Anyone can overwrite the current file list without needing the password, which seems like a big oversight! So be careful with that.
After processing any document, GullLocker creates a new file with the GLF extension. But guess what? This new file doesn’t get added to your list automatically! You’ll need to either browse for it or just drag and drop it into the program yourself.
If you've added an encrypted file, opening it is super simple! Just use the default application without needing to enter your password again. The file will be temporarily stored until you're done editing and close it.
If you decide it's time to decrypt those files, you'll need to enter the same master password used when you locked them up originally.
Overall, GullLocker is a pretty useful software option for keeping your files secure. It’s open-source and works across different platforms so you can encrypt your files easily and open them whenever needed—just remember that master password!
