Description

gtkmm

gtkmm is a free and open-source software that’s super handy for anyone wanting to use the GTK+ GUI toolkit. It's written in C++ and is designed to work smoothly with the GNOME desktop environment.

Key Features of gtkmm

One of the coolest things about gtkmm is its type-safe callbacks. It also has a rich set of widgets that you can easily extend by using inheritance. Plus, it supports type-safe signal handlers and full internationalization with UTF-8. You won’t have to worry about memory management either because it takes care of object composition and automatically deallocates dynamically allocated widgets.

Installation Made Easy

If you're looking to install gtkmm on your GNU/Linux system, it's pretty straightforward! Just use your distribution’s default package manager or software repositories. If you can’t find it there, don't stress! You can grab the source tarball from Softpas.

How to Install gtkmm

Once you've downloaded the tar archive, save it wherever you want. Then, unpack its contents and open up your terminal emulator. Use the ‘cd’ command to navigate to where you extracted the files. Now, run this command: ./configure && make. This will optimize and compile the source code.

After that, you'll need to run make install. Make sure you do this as root or with sudo so that gtkmm gets installed system-wide for all users. You'll also find some demos in the /demos folder inside the source files for GTK developers.

Cross-Platform Support

The great thing about gtkmm is that it's platform-independent! It works on various operating systems like GNU/Linux, NetBSD, FreeBSD, Solaris, Microsoft Windows (with GCC or MSVC), and Mac OS X (also with GCC). Whether you're on a 32-bit or 64-bit system, gtkmm has got you covered as it's all written in C++!
