gressgraph is a handy tool that lets you see what's going on with your firewall. It's pretty cool because it makes a graph of your iptables ruleset using Graphviz. So, why would you want to use it? Well, here are a few reasons:
You can look for any weak spots or things that might be duplicated in your setup. This helps keep your network safer and cleaner.
The graph gives you a good overview of how everything is connected. It’s like getting a snapshot of your network, which can help you make better decisions.
If you ever need to present your network setup, having a visual representation can make things easier for everyone involved.
I’ve made sure that gressgraph is super simple to use. There are no complicated command-line options to mess with. If you want to change how the output looks, you just need to tweak the source code (and don’t worry—it’s only about 190 lines of easy-to-read Haskell).
This tool has mostly been tested on my own straightforward network setup. I’d love to hear how it works for you! Feel free to send over your iptables output if you're up for it.
If you're ready to dive in, check out the README file included in the download. It has all the info on how to contact me and instructions on building the program. Don’t forget to peek at the COPYING file for license details (it’s GPLv3).
