Google News Reader is a handy tool that helps you keep up with the latest news from all around the world. With technology always changing, it's super important to stay updated on current events. You can easily find headlines through TV, radio, or the Internet, but this app makes it even easier!
This app opens up in a clean and compact window, giving you quick access to all the major news categories. Whether you're into top stories, global events, entertainment, health, or sci-tech news, just one click will bring you the latest articles in your chosen area.
You'll see a short paragraph about each article that gives you a quick overview. The latest ten news entries pop up for you to scroll through easily. If something catches your eye, you can read the whole article by opening it in your default web browser or bookmark it for later reading.
If you want to share an article with friends or colleagues, there's an option to send it via email—if you've set up your credentials. However, we found that even using a Google account didn't work perfectly here. So that feature could definitely use some improvement!
If you're busy and on the go, Google News Reader lets you save articles of interest using its bookmarks manager. Your favorite items get saved in their own menu. But keep in mind that there's no way to sort these bookmarks out or see which category they belong to.
The app is pretty straightforward and does most things well but does leave a bit to be desired. Unfortunately, there's no option for alerts; so you'll have to check your favorite categories regularly for new updates.
All things considered, Google News Reader gets most of its job done effectively even if it's missing a couple of features. It doesn't take much space on your desktop and gives you access to fresh entries across nearly any topic you're interested in. While it would be nice if the email feature worked better and alerts were added in future updates, it's still worth keeping around for personal use!
