Gluster Project
Gluster is a cool GNU cluster distribution that’s all about making Supercomputing and Superstorage more accessible for everyone. At its core, Gluster gives you a solid platform to build clustering applications. Whether you’re into HPC Clustering, Storage Clustering, Enterprise Provisioning, or Database Clustering, this software has got you covered!
Requirements for Gluster
What do you need?
- A cluster of ia32 or x86-64 systems with at least 512MB RAM (1GB is recommended) each.
- A supported GNU/Linux distribution pre-installed (for GlusterHPC) on the master node.
Tested Distributions
Currently, Gluster has been tested on several popular distributions:
- Debian
- Slackware
- Redhat Enterprise (and its clones like ScientificLinux and CentOS)
- Fedora Core (1-4)
- Ubuntu
Known Issues
Please note:
- The distributions should be installed without LVM/Software Raid. They are working on adding support for LVM/SW Raid.
- If you're using Fedora Core 5 with SELinux turned on, it might mess up root login on client nodes.
What’s New in This Release?
This release comes with some neat updates:
- The software was updated to Linux version 2.6.23.9.
- You can now boot master/slave in safe mode and disable repeated characters on KVM over IP terminals.
