A proper way to deliver a product is to wrap it up in a good-looking package so the end user knows what it's about, and also make a proper first impression. For software products and video games, the package is the installer, and you can easily build one with applications like GlassWorks.
Before you begin the setup process, ensure that Java Runtime Environment is installed on your PC.
The main window of GlassWorks allows you to customize various aspects of the installer. Navigate through tabs like main, appearance, files and directories, integration, and customization for detailed settings.
In the initial pane, add essential details such as name, version, author, and contact information. Customize default setup directory, installer window size, and compression settings as needed.
While the appearance section offers a preview area, the actual look of the installer is only visible once it is built and tested. Add logos and images for visual appeal.
Adding files and folders is streamlined but limited to loading one file at a time. Organize files into installation groups and include tokens for advanced configurations.
The integration tab allows for configuring file associations and additional parameters. Customize listener groups, classes, and other components in the customization tab.
While GlassWorks offers a user-friendly approach to building installers, some limitations may hinder the building process. Despite good intentions, the software may fall short of expectations, especially in handling files and folders and visual design.
