Description
GDIS
GDIS is a cool GTK-based program designed for displaying and manipulating isolated molecules and periodic systems. Even though it’s still in development, it's actually pretty functional!
Key Features of GDIS
Here are some awesome features you can find in GDIS:
- It supports many common file formats like CIF, PDB, XTL, and XYZ.
- Enjoy amazing OpenGL rendering.
- You get various visualization tools such as measurements, ribbons, and polyhedral displays.
- There are handy manipulation tools for things like matrix transformations and supercell construction.
- Create powerful surface generation and crystal morphology tools.
- Generate and plot diffraction patterns with ease.
- Create animations and movies for your multi-frame files!
- Analyze Molecular Dynamics simulations too!
More Functions with Other Packages
GDIS also lets you do more functions using other packages:
- Model rendering: Thanks to POVRay!
- Energy minimization: Courtesy of GULP.
- Morphology calculation: With help from cdd.
- Space group processing: Thanks to SgInfo.
- You can even view the Periodic Table with GPeriodic!
This software was developed on a RedHat Linux platform but has also been successfully compiled on IRIX, Solaris, OpenBSD, and OS-X. Pretty neat, right?
