Description

Fireware Web Browser

Overview

Landing on your favorite web page requires little effort given it’s already bookmarked in your preferred web browser. While some built quite the reputation over the years, others got overlooked, regardless of the set of features presented. Fireware Web Browser wants to put emphasis on speed and low resource consumption. One of its main advantages is portability, making it possible to always have a web browser to launch directly from a USB flash drive, regardless of the computer you’re using. More than that, it doesn’t put the computer at risk, because it doesn’t need to make any changes to system registry entries in order to function.

Features

  • Portability for use on any computer via USB drive

  • Low resource consumption for optimized performance

  • No changes to system registry for added security

  • Rough interface design for easy navigation

  • No limitation on the number of pages you can navigate

Visual Design

The application stores its features in a rough interface, with no particular elements to make it stand out from the crowd. Accommodation isn't difficult, as all elements are arranged in a common manner, namely on the upper toolbar where you find the URL field and necessary navigation controls.

Functionality

Unfortunately, the application isn’t quite what you expect to find, and you quickly notice this while trying to access a page with more style than just plain text. Support for modern content leaves much to be desired, which inevitably causes various script errors when the page attempts to load. Navigation puts you in control in the sense that you must write the address every time you want to access a page, with no possibility to add bookmarks or save as favorites. There’s no built-in history tracker to easily access visited pages. Speed isn’t an advantage either, and you can only navigate one page at a time.

Bottom Line

Fireware Web Browser is barely at the beginning of a difficult and long road to be considered a practical web browser. Starting from the rough visual design and ending with the flawed functionality, you’re easily tempted to look for alternatives or stick to what you’re already using.
