Description

When I first got my hands on Garuda Linux, I didn't know what to think. However, the more I read about it and the more I tried out its "Dr460nized (dragonized) version, the more I loved the whole project.

In short, I think Garuda Linux Dr460nized version is probably the coolest-looking (and interesting) Linux distro out there. I also really enjoy enjoyed FireDragon, and I've since waited to try it on other Linux distros.

Thankfully, now we all can, because FireDragon has recently made available on Flathub (and there are other ways to install it as well).

Most people seem to think that FireDragon is a Firefox fork, but that's not entirely true. In actual fact, FireDragon is currently based on the pretty amazing Floorp browser (which, in turn, is based on Firefox). Before this, the project was originally started as a Librewolf fork (which is also one of the cooler Firefox forks).

With Floorp as its base and with dr460nized aesthetics, is FireDragon just a Floorp fork without much to offer in terms of features? The answer definitely no.

Even since Garuda Linux was launched, one of its main selling points (I think, at least) was the fact that its default browser was very heavily focused on privacy protection.

For example, the browser uses Searx and Whoogle search engines (with the option to run locally "if fitting deps are installed"). Other than that, you also get a PBMode Security (tracking protection system), perfectly synchronized privacy-enhancing settings with Librewolf's changes, and various other little such touches. It's worth noting that Firefox accounts are enabled and profile data is synchronized to a custom self-hosted sync server.

The browser also features a cool Dark Reader, a nice sweet theme, custom dr460nized aesthetics (which I personally love), custom Firedragon settings for faster webpage loading (and the addition of FastFox tweaks), as well as hidden navigation buttons.

Overall, I found the whole experience with FireDragon to be a satisfying one. I was a bit afraid that it might not work as well on other systems as it does on its default KDE-based dr460nized desktop environment, but that really wasn't the case.

If you're a Firefox fan, and you want something different, or you like the whole dr460nized aesthetics, or you are looking for a lesser-known privacy browser, FireDragon should fit the bill decently well.
