How to Hide Your Files

If you want to conceal a file, it's really simple. Just pick the file using the popup browser, choose the image or PDF where you want to hide it, enter a password for decryption, and set where you want the new file saved. The new file will be in the same format as the original.

Supported Formats

You can use BMP, JPG, and PNG images with this tool. However, during our tests on Windows 10, we found that it didn’t recognize PNGs. But don’t worry—you can still get a copy of your new file right after it's created!

A Few Important Notes

A couple of things are worth mentioning here. Unlike regular encryption tools that lock down access with passwords, FileStegano's steganography means anyone can open the container file if they know the right key. So just remember: while anyone can see the container, they can't get at what's hidden inside without decrypting it first.

Password Tips for Recovery Operations

The recovery process is pretty easy too! Just point to your container file, enter the correct password (make sure it's at least eight characters), and choose where you want to save your recovered data. It's best to use a mix of upper and lower case letters along with symbols and numbers for security.

Your Go-To Solution for File Concealment

Overall, aside from not recognizing some PNG images in our tests, FileStegano works just fine! It might not bring anything groundbreaking but offers an easy way to hide files inside other ones.
