Ensuring that your digital data stays safe and tucked away from prying eyes is essential in protecting your privacy and sensitive information. One of the most basic yet efficient forms of protection that one can resort to is encryption, and this is the main target of FILE SAFE.

Just as its name bluntly suggests, this application will allow you to keep your data safe, by allowing you to password-protect individual files, using manual inputs, and decrypt them if required, from the encapsulation format.

Right from the start, the design of FILE SAFE made me feel that its minimalism might be too much, but given its scope and intended purpose, I was able to see that in this case it helps with accessibility, especially for novices.

Having said that, I appreciated the ease with which one can add a file to the processing queue, and this will be very good news for those seeking a simple approach, without any additional hassle. However, there were a few aspects that made me crave additional functionality and more on those in the following section.

Addressing the elephant in the room first, this being an encryption, password-based app, I expected to also find a password generator bundled in, but this was not the case. This could be a very useful feature to have, regardless of your inspiration for passwords.

The fact that you can’t select different encryption levels, or that you cannot process multiple files simultaneously is another point of concern, and I hope that this could be addressed in future iterations of the app.

If a simple password-protector for your files is what you’re after, than this app could suffice. However, if you require extra functionality, such as bulk processing, different levels of encryption or even a password generator, you might need to look for alternatives.
