Development of applications and video games involves a lot of code writing, regardless of the programming language used. Each is based on sets of functions, and even a tiny typo results in error. To help out, Fast Coder lets you take several tests in which to practice fast writing of plain text, or even programming code.
The main window shows up on launch, and it’s the place where you can choose the type of test to initiate. There’s no actual description for tests, but you can visit a small documentation panel. On the other hand, the general layout is intuitive enough for experienced individuals and beginners alike.
The application’s core function is to improve your typing speed, regardless whether you need this for code writing, or plain text editing. As such, test scenarios are split into two categories, namely programmers, and non-programmers. Both types take you through a similar process, but with slightly different requirements.
As far as programming is concerned, you can test out your skills for C, C++, C#, and Java. For plain text, you can either choose to check how well you fare against an entire paragraph, or letter by letter.
A new window shows up when a test is selected. Different letters, words, or functions show up and your task is to simply write them down in a dedicated field as fast as possible. When done, a prompt shows up so you can get an idea of how good and fast you are at typing.
Taking everything into consideration, we can state that Fast Coder might feel a little rough around the edges, but it’s sure to at least help raise your ambition, if not help you completely improve coding knowledge, and typing speed.
