Description
EMC2
EMC2 is a cool software system that helps control machine tools like milling machines, cutting machines, robots, and even hexapods. And the best part? It’s totally free! It’s released under the GNU GPL (General Public License), which means anyone can use it.
What is EMC2?
So, EMC2 is actually a descendant of the original EMC software, which has been around in the public domain for a while. This means it has some solid roots and a great community behind it!
Exciting New Features
This new version of EMC2 comes packed with awesome features. One big highlight is its flexible and powerful Hardware Abstraction Layer. This allows you to adapt it for all sorts of machinery. Plus, it includes a software PLC controller and an easier installation process than ever before! There’s also a new trajectory planner that makes everything run smoothly.
Installation Made Easy
If you’re worried about installation, don’t be! EMC2 is precompiled with Ubuntu LTS (Long Term Support) versions. This makes it super easy to install and ensures you’ll have long-lasting support.
Important Note
Note: If you already have Ubuntu installed, just remember not to upgrade from that version. Upgrading can mess up how EMC works!
