DupBlock is a small but handy app that does one simple thing: it creates blocks of text from a single phrase or group of words. So, why would you want to use something like this? Well, it can be super useful for making content for printed banners or flyers!
When you open DupBlock, you'll see a straightforward interface with just a few commands. Half of the screen is taken up by a big text panel where you can type or paste what you want to duplicate.
The bottom part of the app lets you use variables and choose how many times your block should repeat. You can even add extra data if you check a box! The variables can be characters, numbers, or words that switch out any word in your original text. This feature is cool because it helps show how different outputs look compared to your original content.
Now, here’s one downside: DupBlock doesn't have an output format list. But don’t worry! You can save your work as simple text files by manually adding .txt or .rtf at the end of the output location. Unfortunately, formats like DOC, DOCX, and PDF didn’t work well—they caused errors when trying to open them.
You can also add new blocks to the same output file without changing its location. This means you can run tests on a piece of text without creating tons of separate files!
Even though DupBlock has been around for almost two decades and has some quirks with output formats, it's still going strong! Duplicating blocks of text might not be everyone's cup of tea, so it doesn’t have a huge audience. But hey, if it helps even one person out there once in a while, that makes it worth it!
