Drone Station is an awesome software for Mac OS X that lets you take control of your Parrot AR.Drone 1.0 right from your computer! You can connect over Wi-Fi, which makes it super easy to fly your drone. Just a heads up, it works with AR.Drone firmware 1.5.1 and newer.
This software isn’t just about flying; it supports a bunch of gamepads, controllers, and joysticks! You can use wired USB PS3, wired USB Xbox 360, Logitech Dual Action Gamepad, Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick, Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X (in PS3 mode), Wii Motion Controllers with Nunchuk or Balance Board, and even your keyboard and mouse!
With Drone Station, you can see animated altitude readings plus directional and battery gauges right on your screen. It also lets you record video in real-time from both the bottom and front cameras of your drone. Plus, if you're feeling fancy, you can watch the live feed in full-screen mode!
The app has cool features like customizing the LED lights on your drone. You’ll get to see changes happen through an animated configuration screen along with some reprogrammed flight animations for extra fun!
If you have external USB Wi-Fi dongles and antennas lying around, you're in luck! You can use them to extend how far you can fly your drone. And before taking off, don’t forget to do a quick control check using the simple drone simulator to practice those joystick moves.
A little tip: make sure to disconnect any other networks before launching Drone Station. This will help everything run smoothly while you're having fun flying your drone.
