DriveCleaner is a super handy tool that makes cleaning your thumb drives and other removable media a breeze! It helps get rid of those annoying invisible files your Mac creates on FAT drives. You know, the ._ resource fork files, .DS_Store files, and those pesky folders like .fseventsd, .Spotlight-V100, and .Trashes that hang out at the root level of your drive.
Installing DriveCleaner is as easy as pie! Just drag it into your Applications folder. After that, you can drag it up to your Finder toolbar for quick access. Super simple!
When you're ready to use DriveCleaner, just open the drive you want to clean. Then click on the DriveCleaner icon in your toolbar. Easy peasy! But even if it's not in the Finder toolbar, you can still launch it using Spotlight. Just make sure the window of the drive you want to clean is active.
Note: DriveCleaner works recursively to zap away those ._ and .DS_Store files. This means if you're dealing with a large file hierarchy, you might notice some performance issues.
If you're tired of those invisible files cluttering up your drives, check out DriveCleaner here!
