Disco Dancer is a cool, minimalist app for your Mac's status bar. It makes it super easy to scrobble music from various sources right to your Last.fm account. Whether you're jamming out on iTunes, Spotify, or even the now-gone Rdio player, this app has got you covered!
First thing's first: when you open Disco Dancer, you'll need to pop in your Last.fm credentials in the Preferences window. Once you do that, the app will connect to your account faster than you can say "music is life!" Plus, from the status bar menu of Disco Dancer, you can easily open your Last.fm profile in your default web browser.
After you've set everything up, just start playing a song in iTunes or the Spotify desktop client. Disco Dancer will automatically grab the track info and send it off to your Last.fm account without any fuss!
One neat feature is that you'll need to tell Disco Dancer which players you want it to work with via its Preferences. The good news? You can set it up so that it launches automatically whenever you start any of those supported music players. How convenient is that?
Now here's something interesting: Disco Dancer can log your tracks even when you're offline! When you get back online, it tries to upload all that info to Last.fm. But during our little test run, it seemed like it only remembered one track after going offline.
If there's a song that really strikes a chord with you, Disco Dancer lets you mark it as a favorite! It'll add those tracks to your favorites list on Last.fm and send a little confirmation message through the Notifications Center.
In short, Disco Dancer is an unobtrusive way to keep track of what you're listening to on Last.fm without being tied down to just one music player. Plus, adding songs to your favorites list just makes it even better!
