DIRT - Driver’s Informative Reaction Timer is a cool app that helps you test your reaction skills right from your computer. It’s super important to react quickly when something unexpected happens on the road, and this app can help you with that! A quicker reaction time can really help prevent accidents or at least lessen their impact.
How Does It Work?
The app sets up a simple scenario that could happen while driving. You’ll get to see how fast you can notice and respond to an event. When you start the test, just press the Shift key like it’s your accelerator pedal. Watch for the green light; it’ll change to red after a random delay. Once you see the red light, let go of the Shift key and hit the Spacebar—think of it as your brake pedal!
Customize Your Experience
You can even set how fast your imaginary car is going, which helps you figure out how much distance you'll cover before needing to stop. DIRT takes your last three valid attempts and calculates an average for perception time, reaction time, and total time taken. You can save these results in a log or print them out if you'd like!
Compete with Friends
If you're feeling competitive, you can create different tags for each user so everyone’s results stay separate. And if the sounds are too much for you, feel free to turn them off! Plus, if you're more comfortable with the Metric system, switching over is easy.
