Description

DbGate is one of the most well-rounded database managers you can use. Part of why DbGate is so good is that it's completely free and fully open-source, and it works on all major platforms out there thanks to bespoke binaries and installers for Linux, macOS, and Windows.

At heart, DbGate is a relatively simple app that's based on DatAdmin, DbMouse, and SQL Database Studio. It's built using a combination of web technologies such as Electron (for the app base), JavaScript, and TypeScript, as well as NodeJs, ExpressJs for the backend, and Svelte for the frontend.

Another reason why DbGate is worth your attention is its flexibility. For instance, the supported databases include MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB, Redis, SQLite, Amazon Redshift, CockroachDB, and MariaDB.

In short, DbGate is a SQL+noSQL database client that's aimed at both users who are just starting out with databases, as well as more advanced users who usually rely on more advanced features.

Let's talk facts, and what DbGate can do. To start with, let's mention the fact that DbGate has a tabbed GUI. This means that you can connect to multiple databases simultaneously (both directly and through SSH tunnel), and browse and edit data in tables (as well benefit from various views and sorting options).

Thanks to the app SQL Editor and SQL Generator, you can edit SQL queries and benefit from autocomplete suggestions. As mentioned before, DbGate has almost all the advanced features usually found in apps of this sort. This includes a schema compare feature, a visual query designer, neat chart visualization, as well as batch export and import features.

While we're on the subject of exporting and importing, DbGate allows you to import and export to and from CSV, Excel files, JSON, NDJSON, and XML (with full JavaScript scripting support). Last but not least, you can use custom plugins for all import and export formats/situations.

For more information about the project, including ways to contribute and installation options, you can check out the official GitHub repo as well as the official website.
