Dact is a cool, free, and open-source app that lets you check out and analyze Alpino corpora with ease. Think of it as a user-friendly upgrade to the awesome Alpino Treebank Tools.
With Dact, you can easily open and query different corpora, compact files, and folders packed with XML files. It’s pretty neat because Dact can show tree structures and count how many times something appears in your queries using XPath2 and XQuery expressions. And guess what? It does this instantly!
Dact also gives you access to lots of syntactically annotated corpora. You can find both the Lassy Small and Lassy Large corpora ready for use from TST Centrale. That’s a great way to get more data for your analysis!
If you're looking for even more options, Dact lets you download various publicly available corpora right from the app itself! You can grab stuff like the newspaper sections of the Eindhoven corpus or even a selection of 100,000 sentences from Dutch Wikipedia. It’s super convenient!
If you're interested in diving into linguistics or just need a solid tool for analyzing language data, be sure to check out Dact here!
