Description
Crunch
Crunch is a straightforward software application made to help you encrypt files and entire folders. This way, you can keep your personal information safe from prying eyes.
Easy Setup Process
The setup is quick and doesn't need any special skills. It includes only the options that most users are already familiar with.
Integrates with Windows Explorer
Even though it's not highlighted, Crunch seamlessly integrates into the Windows Explorer shell extension. This means you can easily encrypt your files just by right-clicking on them!
User-Friendly Interface
The interface features a classic-looking wizard, which makes it super easy to carry out encryption tasks in no time at all. You just follow a few simple steps!
Select Your Encryption Type
You can start by choosing what you want to encrypt—either a single file or an entire folder packed with files. It offers block cipher encryption (XOR) and lets you choose between different chaining modes like ECB (Electronic Code Block), CBC (Cipher Block Chaining), and CBC IV (Cipher Block Chaining + IV). After picking your passphrase, you're ready to move on!
Compression Options
If you prefer, you can skip encryption and head straight to compression. Crunch allows you to compress your file or folder using LZW. Just set the output destination and give your file a name (.crn format), then apply all settings with one click! The tool will automatically close afterward.
No Performance Issues
During our tests, we didn't run into any problems at all! Crunch uses low CPU and RAM, so it barely affects your machine's performance. Plus, it didn’t hang up, crash, or show any error messages.
A Simple Tool for Everyone
While it may not have as many features as other tools for file encryption and compression, Crunch does its job well! It's easy enough for anyone to use.
