Description
ColEm
ColEm is a cool emulator for the ColecoVision video game console. It all started when I was working on fMSX and got a request to check out the ColecoVision. After looking at some info about how it worked, I realized it wasn't too different from MSX, so I jumped right in and created ColEm!
Open Source Fun
From day one, ColEm has been an open project, not a commercial one. This means that anyone can access its source code for free! If you want to use it for your own projects, go ahead! Just make sure it's not for profit and give me, Marat Fayzullin, a shout-out as the author. Keep in mind that while ColEm's code is open, it isn’t under GPL license terms.
Works on Many Devices
What's awesome about ColEm is that it's written in portable C language. That means it can run on pretty much any fast computer or gadget—whether it's a gaming console, PDA, cell phone, DVD player, or even a digital camera! If you're part of a company thinking about using ColecoVision emulation in your products, you can reach out to me to get a license for the ColEm source code.
What's New?
Here’s what’s new in this release:
- With version 2.4 out now, I've made ColEm work on UIQ3-based smartphones from Sony Ericsson and Motorola! I only have one UIQ phone (thanks MotoRIZR Z8!), so if you own one of these phones, please test ColEm-UIQ and let me know if you find any issues.
- I’ve also improved the “soft video” mode and made stability fixes in ColEm-Symbian (S60 version). Check out the documentation for all the details!
- ColEm supports standard controllers as well as SuperAction controllers—yes, even those fun spinners that you control with mouse movement!
- I’m also starting to add support for Coleco Adam emulation—stay tuned because that's still in progress!
