Description
When it comes to simple developer tools, it sort of feels like a "there's nothing the Internet can't fix" type of situation.
Nevertheless, sometimes having your most used tools for conversions and parsing right on your desktop can prove to be an advantage, at least when it comes to convenience.
Bodev is a simple free and open-source application that aims to do just that - bring some of the most used basic developer tools directly on Linux desktops.
As mentioned before, this tool was not designed to the needs of most developers, especially not advanced developers. This is a simple tool that allows you to convert ASCII to and from hexadecimal, convert between many serialization formats, debug regex expressions, and parse and debug CBOR messages.
At the time of testing, the tools of this app are as follows: CBOR explorer, ASCII to and from HEX converter, Rust regex testing, HTML escaping and decoding, WebGPU shader playground, URL parser, and Octal permissions parser.
As it stands, there are enough tools to warrant the usage of this app, especially for a beginner dev (as these tools are low-level dev tools). However, new tools might find their way into the app with future updates.
While the app did work as intended, I have to say that I'm not a big fan of the GUI. Granted, it's not a bad GUI (as it's modern-looking, and quite responsive), but it sort of feels like a GUI built specifically for the COSMIC desktop (the default desktop environment for Pop!_OS. The only real feature of the GUI is the fact that you're allowed to close the side panel, which, is a bit on the minimalist side of things.

Bodev For Linux offers beginner developers a range of basic tools for conversions and parsing. The GUI, while not my favorite, is modern and responsive.
