Belphe is a lightweight app designed to help you keep track of the local paths of your files. It requires you to enter a password every time you open it, and when you do, it shows a simple list where you can check out specific items whenever you need.
But here's the catch—this handy tool has some serious security flaws. First off, it doesn’t save your file list after you close the app. So, honestly, there aren't many situations where it would be useful.
The main thing Belphe does is extract the full path of any file you pick and show it in its main window. However, there are some limits: you can't select multiple files at once, and drag-and-drop features are not supported.
Another downside is that you can't copy those saved file paths to your clipboard. Plus, remember that list? It disappears as soon as you shut down the program! Because of this, keeping your app password-protected feels pointless since there's no information left for anyone to see when they open it.
In fact, using Belphe might actually put your passwords in danger instead of keeping them safe. When you set up a password during installation, that passkey gets stored in an unprotected TXT file right in the app's main folder.
This issue mainly pops up if you've entered a password while installing it. But let's face it—most people probably will! Overall, Belphe is an odd little application because it doesn’t really do much besides pulling out file paths. And even then, that info vanishes as soon as you close the utility with no way to copy or export anything.
The program puts your data at risk by storing your password insecurely. Honestly, there’s little reason to bother with a passkey since no data sticks around for any user who launches the application.
