Thse typse of files are usually large and cannot be easily opened in common text viewers.

Also, BAM files are not human-readable so they require a specialized viewer to interpret the information contained within the files.

BAMseek is not a command line tool but instead it's a comfortable point-and-click GUi for browsing BAM and SAM files.
