So, after you install this extension, all you have to do is type :), then hit (F3). Voila! You get a cheerful smiley picture popping up on your screen.

Troubleshooting Shortcuts

But hold on, not all shortcuts might work perfectly with OpenOffice.org. If that happens, no worries! Just select the emoticon characters first and then press (F3). Another option is to enable the Insert toolbar. You can do this by going to View - Toolbars - Insert. From there, pick your favorite EmotiKon using the Insert AutoText icon.
