Description
AutoMode
AutoMode is a cool tool for people who often work on multi-mode projects. You know, like when you have different types of files open at the same time? For instance, you might be juggling HTML and CSS or maybe even HTML and Perl (CGI). It can get pretty tricky!
Switching Between Modes Made Easy
When you're editing, it's nice to have a layout that fits what you're working on. In AutoMode, you can pick a specific layout with toolbars and menus tailored for your active mode. However, this setup usually makes things easier only in the “main” mode. If you're working in another mode, it can feel like you’re left to figure things out alone.
Handling Multiple Mode Files
So, what if you're dealing with five different modes at once? That sounds overwhelming! One way to fix this is by adding a second menu for each mode right under the main menu. But honestly, that could get messy.
The Solution: AutoMode Package
This is where the AutoMode package comes in handy! It lets users automatically change their layout based on what mode they are working in. All the definitions are found in %b\\Config\\AutoMode\\modes.edt. So say goodbye to manual switching!
A Comfortable Editing Experience
With AutoMode, if you're working on a LaTeX file, you'll see all the LaTeX features ready to go. When you switch over to an HTML file, bam! The HTML toolbar and menus pop up just like magic. And when you go back to LaTeX, your layout is right there waiting for you again!
A Minor Trade-Off
You might notice a little flickering on your screen when switching between modes, but that’s just part of getting comfortable while editing. Plus, if it bugs you too much, turning off this feature is super easy!
