Description

AODV-UU

AODV-UU (Ad-hoc On-demand Distance Vector Routing from Uppsala University) is a really interesting routing protocol that’s being looked into by the IETF. It’s designed for ad-hoc networks where both users and routers can be on the move.

Key Features of AODV-UU

AODV-UU supports IPv6 and multicasting (with the right patch), so it’s pretty versatile! Plus, it follows RFC 3561 standards.

Here are some key features of AODV UU:

  • Works on Linux 2.4.x kernels and in the ns-2 simulator.

  • Can cross-compile for ARM devices like iPAQ and Zaurus.

  • Sticks to RFC 3561 guidelines.

  • Runs as a user-space daemon without needing any kernel changes.

  • It’s super easy to compile, install, and run!

  • Has optional unidirectional link detection and avoidance features (not specified in the draft).

  • Supports multiple network interfaces.

  • Allows multiple gateway support through tunneling.

Requirements for AODV-UU

If you want to use AODV-UU, here’s what you need:

  • Linux Kernel (2.4 branch)

  • Network Simulator 2.26 (optional)

What’s New in This Release?

This latest version has some cool updates:

  • You can now compile on versions 2.6.20 and 2.6.22!
