AltSnap is a cool tool that helps you manage your application windows on your computer. It’s like its cousin, AltDrag, but with some neat tweaks. Whether you're using Linux or Windows, this utility makes it easier to handle where your windows are located on the screen—all you need to do is hold down the Alt key!

Installation Options

You’ll be happy to know that AltSnap comes in two flavors: an installer and a portable version. So, you get to choose how you want it! Even though it doesn’t have a traditional interface, you can still access all its settings through the System Tray. This means you can turn it on or off as needed and tweak its behavior to fit your style.

Customizable Settings

When it comes to customizing AltSnap, there’s plenty you can do! You can set up which mouse buttons do what, choose keyboard shortcuts, and even create a blacklist for processes that you don’t want AltSnap to mess with. Plus, if you've got specific windows in mind, you can tell the app to ignore those too. The advanced settings let you run multiple instances of AltSnap at once or automatically maximize windows when switching monitors. You can also restore window sizes with just one click!

What’s New?

Now, since AltSnap is based on AltDrag, there are some changes worth mentioning. The Hook window feature that allowed for window snapping has been removed because it required some technical stuff (like injecting a DLL) that raised security concerns. Also gone is the focus on typing feature.
