Afloat is a handy little Cocoa plug-in that adds some cool features to the Window menu in many Mac apps. With it, you can use the "Keep Floating" and "Make Transparent" commands to customize your windows!
So, what does Afloat do? Well, when you choose "Keep Floating," that window will always stay on top of everything else. Even if you switch to another app, it won't disappear into the background! You just go to the menu bar and pick Window > Keep Afloat. Easy as pie!
You can also change things up by using a keyboard shortcut or by selecting Window > Adjust Effects from the menu. It’s super simple!
Another great feature is that you can drag a window from anywhere, not just the top bar. Just hold down the control and command keys while dragging – it's that easy!
If you want to play with how see-through your windows are, Afloat has got your back! You can make any window transparent or solid whenever you feel like it. Just head over to Window > Transparency, or use page up/page down on your keyboard to adjust it quickly.
Afloat also lets you create overlays. These are like floating windows but they ignore mouse clicks! So, you can keep an overlay visible while still working on other stuff beneath it.
If you're working with a file and want quick access, there's a neat trick for that too! If the window is showing a file icon in its menu bar, just select Show Window's File in Finder. This will pop open Finder and show you where that file is located.
