Active@ ZDelete is a handy tool for anyone looking to sell or donate their old hard drives. If you're worried about someone getting their hands on your private data, this software is worth considering. It works like a file shredder, which means it scrambles up the contents of your drive before wiping them clean. This makes it super tough—if not impossible—for anyone to recover your information later.

Easy-to-Use Interface

The compact user interface offers you three options to wipe different types of data: files, folders, and entire drives. There’s also a short toolbar that gives you quick access to the settings panel and an activity log. Everything is pretty straightforward!

Missing Features

One thing to note is that the app doesn't support drag-and-drop functionality, even though it's mentioned on the developer's site. That would have made things easier, especially when you’re in a hurry! But don’t worry; this doesn’t affect how well it shreds files.

Erase Methods You Can Choose From

The default method for erasing data is called One Pass Zeros. If that doesn’t work for you, just check out the Settings tab where you can choose from other methods. There are two combo menus: one for files and folders and another for hard drives. You can even select methods like US DoD 5220.22-M or Canadian OPS-II—some of these are still used by governments worldwide!

Taking extra steps to protect your data before passing on your drives really pays off! Active@ ZDelete seems like a solid choice with all its shredding options. However, we hope they add that drag-and-drop feature in future updates.
