5FM Radio Stream Player is a simple widget for your desktop that provides direct access to the 5FM radio station, based in South Africa. It is easy to install and configure.

The interface of the widget is made from a small window which can be moved to any position on the screen, with the help of the mouse cursor.

The audio stream automatically plays at initialization, and you can stop it, as well as bring up a webpage with the radio station's homepage.

By opening the right-click menu, you can access the Widget Preferences section and select the stream between sponsored and original 5FM stream. Unfortunately, 5FM Radio Stream Player doesn't comprise any other options or configurable settings of its own. For instance, you cannot adjust the volume level.

However, thanks to the default options provided by the Yahoo! Widget Engine, you can set the frame to stay on top or below all the other windows, to ignore mouse events and to prevent dragging. Plus, you can set its opacity level to a preset value, ranging from 20% to 100%.

The widget is low-demanding when it comes to the CPU and RAM, has a good response time and works well, without causing the OS to hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. Unfortunately, the Yahoo! Widget Engine project has been discontinued, so 5FM Radio Stream Player shall not receive any further updates.
