YouTube Widget

YouTube Widget is a cool tool you can use to easily find and watch videos on YouTube without having to open your browser every time. Even though Yahoo! stopped supporting widgets back in April 2012, there are still many useful little apps out there, and this is one of them!

What You Need to Get Started

To install the YouTube Widget, you'll need the Yahoo! Widget Engine. This is a JavaScript tool that lets you run widgets on Windows computers. Once you've got that set up, you're all set to explore videos right from your desktop using the YouTube data API!

How It Works

After you install it, the widget opens up a simple window with a search box and a playback screen. To find videos, just type in what you're looking for, choose how you want to sort the results (like by views or ratings), and hit 'Submit'. It's super straightforward!

Navigating Your Search Results

The search results pop up neatly on your screen. From there, you can click on any video you want to watch. The best part? Clicking on it sends the video straight to the built-in player so you can watch it right away—no need to go to YouTube in your web browser! Just remember that you'll need an Internet connection for this widget to work.

Compatibility Notes

The Yahoo! Widget Engine works well with most recent Windows versions. However, during testing, we did notice some hiccups when using it on Windows 8. But don't worry; everything ran smoothly on Windows 7!
