YAC to Squeeze is a cool little app that makes it super easy to show Caller ID info on your Logitech Squeezebox music player. And the best part? You don't have to jump through too many hoops to get it working!
First off, you need to have YAC and the Logitech Media Server set up on your computer. These two are essential for this app to do its magic.
So, what's YAC? Well, it's a handy tool that grabs Caller ID info from the modem it's connected to. Then, it sends that info out to multiple computers. On the other hand, the Logitech Media Server is what streams music straight from your computer to your Squeezebox player.
Now, getting YAC to Squeeze up and running does involve a few steps that might feel tricky at first. Don't worry; we'll walk through them! First things first: make sure YAC is closed before you begin.
You'll need to swap out the original YAC executable with the one found in this app's package. If you're using a 64-bit version of YAC, look for "yac-x64.exe." Just remember, you'll want to rename that file to "yac.exe" before restarting YAC.
Next, take those "Yac2Squeeze.exe" and "YacLogViewer.exe" files and put them in their own folder. You might also need to adjust some registry entries according to the instructions included with the app.
Once you've followed all those steps and got everything set up right, you're in business! When a call comes in, YAC will notify all connected clients just like usual. It checks for something called a "RunProgram" registry entry too—if it's there, it runs whatever program you've set up while using Caller ID as a parameter.
Your Caller ID will be pulled by "Yac2Squeeze.exe," which then prompts your Squeezebox device via the Logitech Media Server so you can see who's calling right on your player! And if you want even more control, you can log Caller IDs by adjusting settings in the "LogViewer" registry.
If you're looking for an easy way to get your Squeezebox showing Caller IDs, then definitely give YAC to Squeeze a shot! Sure, setting it up may take some effort and requires a few pieces of software working together, but once it's all done? The results can be pretty awesome!
