XTelnet is a straightforward telnet client that even has SSL support! It makes connecting to servers super easy and secure.
If you want to get started with XTelnet, here’s how you can compile it:
cd
into the directory where the source code for XTelnet is located. Then type ./configure
. This command sets everything up for your system. If you're using an older version of System V with `csh`, just type sh ./configure
instead. This keeps `csh` from trying to run the configure script itself.make
. This will start compiling the package.make check
. It's optional but can be helpful!make install
.make clean
. This removes the program binaries and object files from your source code directory. If you’re looking to prepare for a different computer setup, go ahead and use make distclean
. There’s also a target called make maintainer-clean
, but that's mainly for developers. It might require extra programs if used.If you're ready to dive in and download this handy tool, check out XTelnet here!
