What is XTelnet FOR LINUX?

XTelnet

XTelnet is a straightforward telnet client that even has SSL support! It makes connecting to servers super easy and secure.

How to Install XTelnet

If you want to get started with XTelnet, here’s how you can compile it:

  1. Step 1: First, open your terminal and cd into the directory where the source code for XTelnet is located. Then type ./configure. This command sets everything up for your system. If you're using an older version of System V with `csh`, just type sh ./configure instead. This keeps `csh` from trying to run the configure script itself.

  2. Step 2: After that, type make. This will start compiling the package.

  3. Step 3: If you want to make sure everything's working right, you can run some tests by typing make check. It's optional but can be helpful!

  4. Step 4: To install all the programs and any data files or documentation, type make install.

  5. Step 5: If you're done and want to clean up, use make clean. This removes the program binaries and object files from your source code directory. If you’re looking to prepare for a different computer setup, go ahead and use make distclean. There’s also a target called make maintainer-clean, but that's mainly for developers. It might require extra programs if used.
