XPCover is a neat little widget that runs on the Yahoo! Widget Engine. It helps you keep your computer activities private by displaying an image on your desktop whenever you hit a specific key combination. Super handy, right?
This type of software can be really useful if you want to hide what you're doing on your computer from curious eyes. Whether you're working on something sensitive or just want a little privacy, XPCover has got your back!
Once you add XPCover to the Yahoo! Widget Engine, it’s easy to set up. You can open the Widget Preferences panel to customize everything just how you like it. By default, XPCover comes with a screenshot and taskbar image that pop up when you use the keyboard shortcut.
You can swap out these default images for anything else as long as they’re in JPG, GIF, or PNG format. Plus, feel free to change the hotkey and how it triggers by picking from the options in the General tab.
The Yahoo! Widget Engine gives you even more control! You can decide if you want the frame to stay above other windows or below them. Also, there are options to ignore mouse events and prevent dragging. And guess what? You can even adjust how transparent it is!
XPCover is super light on system resources too! It runs smoothly without causing any hiccups in the Yahoo! Widget Engine—no crashes or annoying error messages here. Even though this app hasn’t been updated for a while (probably because of Yahoo!’s project changes), it still works great for users at any skill level who need an easy way to hide their screen activity.
