xCommander is a handy little macOS app that connects to your X-10 Model CP290 controllers, letting you control up to 256 devices right from your desktop. Pretty cool, right?
With xCommander, you can easily scan your local network for xStations. If you prefer, you can also just type in the device’s address using the app’s Preferences panel. Plus, it handles SSH tunneling too!
By default, xCommander will automatically number the devices from 1 to 16 based on each house code. But if you want to mix things up, feel free to edit that list manually! You can even select multiple devices at once and tweak the serial port settings.
This app lets you send simple commands—like turning things on and off or dimming lights (you get to choose how dim!). And here’s a neat feature: you can save up to 8 different configuration presets so you don’t have to keep setting them up.
In the xCommander Preferences, there are options for configuring commands that get sent to your CP290 devices when your computer wakes up or goes into sleep mode. Want more details? Check out the documentation files included with the software.
To wrap it all up, xCommander is perfect for sending those on/off/dim commands to your CP290 controllers connected over the network. It helps streamline how you interact with all those devices around your place.
