WSUS Smart Approve is a console application designed for managing the Windows Server Update Service. Its purpose is to approve updates as they are detected as being needed, rather than download a vast amount of unnecessary downloads through following an "approve all" approach. It is intended to be run on a regular basis as a scheduled task to ensure timely approvals.

Configuring WSUS Smart Approve:

To configure WSUS Smart Approve, follow these steps:

• Open the WSUS MMC Console


• Navigate to Update Services -> %SERVER NAME% -> Options


• Choose the Products and Classifications you want detected


• Select Automatic Approvals


• Edit Default Automatic Approval Rule and other rules


• Untick any undesired update types

Note: If you prefer not to approve updates automatically, consider deleting the default rule. This decision allows for more control over the approval process.
