What is Winput?

Winput

Winput is a super handy console app that makes it easy to ask users for input. This input can then be used for batch processing, which is pretty cool!

How Winput Works

When you use Winput, the string you provide gets inserted right into a custom output string, exactly how you typed it. Just remember, your output string needs to have the $input token in it. Also, since this output goes to STDOUT, you'll want to redirect it to a file with the > operator.

The Syntax You Need to Know

The syntax for Winput looks like this: Winput [TitleString] OutputString PromptString [InitialString] [Options] [ > File ]. It’s straightforward once you get the hang of it!

Extra Help and Examples

If you're new to Winput, don’t worry! It comes with extra instructions and examples showing how you can send commands to a batch file. Plus, you'll find details about all the arguments and options available.

Some Important Rules

  • No Case Sensitivity: The $input token and all options don’t care about case.

  • Space Separators Only: Make sure to separate your arguments and options with spaces; that's the only way it works.

  • Quotation Marks Required: Put all your string parameters inside double quotation marks.

A Bonus Demo App!

The package even includes a demo cmd application! This lets you see how Winput operates without needing to write any commands yourself. It's a great way to learn!
