What is WindowTitleEx?

It may be useful in certain scenarios to know the window handle (HWND), thread ID, and process ID of a certain program, but you don’t normally have quick access to these values.
WindowTitleEx is an open-source application that provides you with a solution, as it displays the HWND, TID, and PID of each process in the window’s title bar so that the data will always be at hand.

As soon as you launch the application, it will retrieve the HWND, TID, and PID of every open window and show them in the title bar. The process isn’t exactly instant, but it shouldn’t take longer than one or two seconds.
However, the program does not offer any configuration options at present, so you can’t specify which of these parameters should be displayed in the title bar.

Once launched, the program will be minimized to the system tray automatically, and the only indication that it is running is the new information presented in each window’s title bar.
However, it is important to note that the HWND, TID, and PID are not removed from the window titles automatically when shutting down the program. In order to remove them, you need to right-click the tray icon and select the “Revert Titles and Close” option from the context menu.
On the whole, WindowTitleEx is a very useful piece of software if you frequently need to find the window handle, thread ID, or process ID of programs with open windows. It would help if some additional configuration options were available, in order to specify which of these parameters should be displayed, but the application is very unobtrusive and doesn’t even need to be installed beforehand.
