Windows-Update-Checker (also known as Komm's Update Checker) is a simple application designed to scan your computer for Windows Updates, including those that are missing and those which can be removed if they are faulty and cause system stability issues.
It uses DISM Deployment Imaging Servicing Management for acquiring some system info, a command-line tool that's built into Windows, along with CSVFileView to generate reports, a free app made by another developer.
To avoid file reading errors, it's best to start the tool with administrative rights applied. If you run the matching edition for your operating system, then Windows-Update-Checker should automatically detect it and create the packages file without any trouble.
As soon as the packages file contents are compared to the Windows updates installed on your computer, the program reveals useful information in the main window, such as the total found packages, Internet Explorer version, RSAT, WMF, HybridCloudStorage, telemetry details, and other additions like WinHelp and LockDown Manager.
The tool is not oriented toward casual users looking for a simple software solution when it comes to checking the system to see if it has all the update packages released by Microsoft. However, it provides comprehensive details for expert users, helping them install missing components and even troubleshooting. Unfortunately, it doesn't currently have an edition optimized for Windows 10.
