Writer SDK is stepping up its game with some cool new features! Now, it has hooks for pre- and post-publish events. Just a heads-up, though—these updates are still in the experimental phase. This means the APIs aren’t set in stone yet. We might tweak things based on your feedback, which could affect any plug-ins using these fresh methods.
The biggest changes include two new plugin types: publish notification hooks and header/footer content sources. You can even check what’s in the post and decide to cancel the publish operation if needed.
Now, let’s talk about header/footer source plugins! These guys help insert headers or footers when publishing. Keep in mind that headers and footers can’t be edited directly by Writer users. They won’t show up in the editing views of Writer either, but they will be visible in the Preview view (and obviously on your published blog post).
