Description

Win9x PassView can be used to recover lost or forgotten passwords in Windows Millenium, 98 or 95. Although it runs on newer Windows editions, it cannot reveal the keys.

This is a free and simple software application capable of showing four types of passwords: the username and key of the current logged on user, along with cached passwords, network shares keys (applies only for share-level access control), and screensaver passwords.

The interface consists of a single window that contains three buttons for showing the Windows passwords, copying information to the Clipboard, and exiting the tool. It instantly identifies and displays the keys once the command is triggered, and you can view the current logged user and password, along with cached passwords (resource type and name, and password).

Some cached passwords may appear in encrypted form. You can make a text selection to copy, or click the button to copy everything to the Clipboard.

Installation is not required. You can save Win9x PassView's executable file in any location on the disk or on a USB flash drive, and simply double-click it to launch the tool. It doesn't need any DLLs and doesn't change Windows registry settings.
