WiFinder is a super handy Mac OS X app that makes finding wireless networks around you a breeze. Seriously, it’s all about making your life easier!
With WiFinder, you can quickly scan for all the available WiFi networks nearby. It even helps you find unused channels to cut down on any interference from other signals.
The user-friendly interface shows you a list of detected WiFi networks. You’ll get detailed info like authentication methods, noise levels, signal strength, BSSID, channel band, and even the number and width of channels. It’s pretty cool!
One of the coolest features? WiFinder automatically creates real-time charts for both signal strength and noise levels. You can keep an eye on these over time for any network you discover.
WiFinder doesn’t stop there! It gathers geolocation data tied to the wireless network's IP address and shows its location on Google Maps. You can switch views between Street, Satellite, and Hybrid with just one click.
The context menu lets you join a selected network or add notes about it. You can mark it as a favorite or change its label color too! Plus, if there are networks you want to ignore or hide (like closed ones), it’s easy to manage them.
If you go to the File menu, you'll find options to open a new scanner or save/load your history. The Preferences window lets you switch between different network cards and adjust the scanning interval. You can even set WiFinder to auto-join specific networks!
In short, WiFinder is an easy-to-use WiFi scanner that helps you find nearby networks and figure out which channels your router could use without interference.
