What is Watcher?

Watcher

Watcher is a handy software application that helps you automatically detect motion in front of your web cameras and records what happens on your computer. It’s perfect for work or home surveillance, and you can actually capture streams from up to four webcams at the same time!

Easy Configuration

The cool thing about Watcher is that all the settings are packed into one easy-to-use panel. There isn’t a help manual, but honestly, the setup is so simple that you’ll figure it out in no time!

Live Video Preview

You can preview video streams from all four webcams right in the main panel. Plus, you can pick which webcam to use and easily turn them on or off whenever you want.

Storage Options

With Watcher, you have control over where your recordings go. You can choose a saving directory, set a limit on how much disk space to use, and even compress videos so they don’t take up too much room on your computer. Oh! And if you want to start fresh each day, there’s an option to reset the event count daily.

Event Tracking

This app shows details about how many movement events each camera has detected. It keeps track of new events and lets you reset the info whenever needed.

Playback Feature

Last but not least, Watcher comes with a simple player that lets you watch your recordings. You can play, pause, or restart what you've recorded. One little downside is that it doesn’t support email alerts or sound notifications when motion is detected.

A Basic Yet Effective Tool

All in all, Watcher offers basic features to help you record video streams from your webcam and detect movement—making it suitable for both beginners and pros. Just keep in mind that it hasn’t been updated in a while, so it's best for older systems like Windows XP or 7.
